Intermittent numbness in both arms and hands can be caused by a few conditions. These can be anywhere in the course of the nerves traveling from the brain, to the spinal cord, to the major nerves and then to the smaller nerves in the hand. I would advise you to seek a medical professional for a full history and examination to exclude important causes. Once these have been excluded, you can then be referred to a specialist to be worked up for the rest of the conditions like cervical spondylosis (wear and tear of the neck spine which can result in compression of nerves) or other nerve compression syndromes like carpal tunnel syndrome.
