Dr Roland Chieng is a certified specialist in obstetrics and gynaecology with special interest in  reproductive endocrinology, in-vitro fertilisation and male infertility. In addition, he is also adept in  reproductive microsurgery and fertility preservation in cancer. Dr Chieng obtained his basic medical  degree from the National University of Singapore and his specialist degree from The Royal College of  Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in the United Kingdom.  

Dr Chieng had additional subspecialty training in Melbourne when he was awarded the Health  Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) Fellowship in Male Infertility, Reproductive Microsurgery  and Assisted Reproductive Technologies and Endoscopy in 2004 - 2005. During this period, Dr  Chieng had his IVF training in the area of male infertility and reproductive microsurgery.  

Upon returning from Melbourne, he continued to provide his expertise services on reproductive  medicine in Singapore General Hospital as a Consultant in the Department of Obstetrics and  Gynaecology. Dr Chieng is recognised for his work in fertility preservation and was in charge of both  the Fertility Preservation Section and Advanced Gynaecological Endoscopy in Singapore General  Hospital. Dr Chieng continued his post until April 2010, where he left for private practice at Parkway East Hospital, Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital and Scotts Medical Center. 

In addition to his experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Dr Chieng is also a registered  acupuncturist in Singapore, having graduated from the Singapore College of Traditional Chinese  Medicine 2007. As he sees so many patients suffering  from emotional stress and anxiety related to their worries about conceiving, he has also undertaken a study in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and has seen good results when combining acupuncture treatment with assisted reproductive treatment.

As the Founding Medical Director of Virtus Fertility Centre Singapore, Dr Chieng was instrumental in setting up the centre since January 2015, continuing to bring across his expertise and experience to enhance the depth of fertility care in Singapore.
