Hello Doctor, I am asking about my mother’s health.
Hello Doctor,
I am asking about my mother’s health. She is 52 years old and recently went through menopause. For the past 2–3 months she has been urinating very frequently, and it is getting worse day by day.
She does not have pain, burning, fever, or blood in urine, but she feels strong urgency and sometimes leaks urine, especially when laughing. It is affecting her daily life a lot.
She has a thyroid condition diagnosed by a doctor and is taking her thyroid medicine, magnesium, and vitamins. Her sleep is mostly okay.
We are worried and want to know what could be the cause (and what tests or treatment you would recommend.
Thank you for your time.

Hi @robinhoodlola  it's not possible to diagnose the cause of this online, she would benefit from a visit with a primary care doctor/GP or gynaecologist to check. Based on the information you've given, overactive bladder and menopause-related urinary changes are among the more likely possibilities as you seem to suspect, but examination followed by a urine test and diabetes screening are important first steps a GP could help with as they are common and potentially treatable causes.
