Women’s Health
Women have many unique health concerns, such as menstrual cycles, pregnancy, birth control, menopausal issues and more. Women's health refers to the branch of medicine that focuses on the treatment and diagnosis and prevention of diseases and conditions that affect a woman's physical and emotional well-being. LadyBug aims to empower women to take charge of their own health, and to have access to a reliable, all-encompassing platform to ask any women health related queries and get responses targeted to each individual and their unique circumstance by physicians. Other than asking questions, you may also read the experiences and journey other women went through, or even share stories yourself! Be a part of Women's Health Space!

Thanks for sharing- just from the description, it sounds like more of a skin condition (eg eczema)! Regarding breast screening- ie. Mammogram, it is always good to check, to ensure that the breasts themselves are healthy. My personal opinion is, the patient has the choice to decide if he or she wants any treatment. Professionally, do encourage her to see a doctor, just so that a doctor can examine and confirm that it's just a skin problem, and not from the breast. Check out my website, and my instagram page for more tidbits of information! @breastfriendsurgery

The many causes of a reduction in amniotic fluid are highly variable.

One major cause of a decrease in amniotic fluid is the mother’s diet and lifestyle habits (smoking, excess caffeine and alcohol consumption, diets high in processed foods). Unhealthy weight gain or very restrictive eating habits can also contribute to low levels. Leakage of fluids could also be a likely cause.

Monitoring the intake, output and swelling of your ankles will help to identify signs that you are urinating or retaining fluid. Drink more fluids, avoid salty foods and medications that promote sodium retention.
Be sure to drink lots of water and eat foods high in fiber and sodium so you produce more amniotic fluid naturally! Do see a doc to check for leakage too.

Hi, fibroids are unknown of the causes unfortunately. Embolisation works by blocking the blood supply to the fibroids. This will reduce the size by 50-60%.

Not all mental illnesses can be prevented, but stress can be reduced by parents when they place fewer unrealistic expectations on their children. Parents can also walk the talk by showing that they themselves lead healthy physical and mental and emotional lives themselves so the children have good role models to mimic. When parents are stressed and act out at their kids, kids fare worse. For more parenting help specific to your situation, do contact me at www.jadelifeandwellness.com and I’d be happy to help.

Hello. I know how you feel. It can be very overwhelming when you’re the only caregiver to many. First of all, remember that not everything needs to be done at once, so prioritise your time well.

Secondly, every person- including those you are caring for- is accountable for his actions. So feel free to delegate responsibility, like homework to kids, taking meds to older folks, and bedtime to everyone. It may be hard at first as they push boundaries, but you have to let them fail first and let them try again.

Lastly, don’t forget to take care of yourself. If you need to schedule personal time for yourself, do so. It should rank as highly as tuition class for kids. Don’t wait for a complete breakdown before declaring you need emergency rest, otherwise that ‘MC’ will affect even more people. Schedule rest regularly so things can go as planned (as much as possible anyway).
If you would like to be coached to achieve your goal, do drop me an email at www.jadelifeandwellness.com and I’d be happy to assist.

Hi! Different people manage their work-life balance differently. Some people respond to external factors, whereas others respond to internal factors. It’s important to understand yourself first so you can make a plan for you that works. If you’d like to contact me at www.jadelifeandwellness.com I’d be happy to talk to you so you can understand the situation you’re in, what is happening around you and inside of you, what you’d like to achieve and make an action and accountability plan based on your resources and challenges.

Hello there. I am glad you’re reaching out for help. For mental illness it is important to speak to a psychiatrist who is a doctor that is trained to diagnose and treat illnesses. Another suggestion if you don’t need a doctor but need some help exploring emotions might be a counsellor or a therapist. And if you’d simply like a listening ear to help you visualise a goal and achieve it, a coach like myself might do. If you decide a listening ear in the form of a coach is what you need, do reach out at www.jadelifeandwellness.com  and I’d be happy to help. There are also other life coaches that offer the same positive, goal-directed  approach so feel free to reach out to whomever suits your needs.

Hi! I understand it must be difficult for you to manage a family with five children to care for. It’s important that you look after yourself as well and I’m glad you’ve reached out. Areas you can consider to improve your self-care would be not just to look after your mental health but also your physical health as they affect each other. Also, maintain good care in your social and financial life as they tend to affect your overall wellbeing. Specifically for good mental health do consider the things you enjoy doing, and if they are healthy, make time for them. Although you are managing five children you shouldn’t forget to schedule time for yourself, no matter if it is only 20 min a day. If you’d like to speak to me as a coach to help you with maintaining good mental health, send me a request at www.jadelifeandwellness.com and I’d be happy to set up an appointment there.

Hello! You’ve mentioned a few things: having worked for several years, once being happy but now no longer and that you don’t want to resign. It’s difficult to give advice on how to achieve better work life balance without knowing a little more about these areas. It’s also unclear whether it is a poor work life balance that is causing you to be “no longer happy”. It might be better for you to speak to someone who knows the situation better, such as a mentor at work. If you’d like to have a coach speak with you, you may contact me at www.jadelifeandwellness.com and I’d be happy to reply to your email.

Hi there. Not all mental illnesses can prevented, but some mental illnesses like Dementia can be slowed by having good physical health or at least good control of chronic illnesses like Hypertension and Diabetes, and by participating in group activities like gardening, forest walks and choral singing.

Good mental health in general can also be maintained by learning how to manage stress well, having a general sense of fulfilment and having an accountability partner like your family, a friend or a life coach. For inquiries on coaching, please check out www.jadelifeandwellness.com but for questions related to mental illness do seek help from a psychiatrist who is trained to manage them.

The best thing to do next is a simple urine pregnancy test at home. If the test is negative, you may wait for another week to see if menstruation starts naturally. If it is still delayed, please repeat the pregnancy test. You may need to see a gynaecologist for a pelvic scan if the period is delayed for more than 2-3 weeks; the appropriate medicine should be given to induce menstrual flow after the scan. If it is indeed an unplanned pregnancy, you may then arrange with the gynaecologist for the appropriate management.
