Dear Sandaramei, Yes you are still able to get pregnant depending on the location and size of your fibroids and ovarian cysts. You might wish to consult your gynaecologist for an ultrasound scan to determine the location of any fibroids and ovarian cysts for a personalised discussion. It might also be reassuring to know that there are 2 ovaries a female reproductive system and if 1 ovary is really affected due to ovarian cysts, the other ovary can still produce eggs for fertilisation to take place. Hope this helps.

Dear @sandra You should not be pregnant as you had your period after your intercourse. Fertilisation happens mid- menstrual cycle which is usually 14 days after your menses. It might also be reassuring to know that ella is effective 5 days post intercourse and your pregnancy test is negative. So you should not become pregnant based on the recent sexual intercourse. Hope this helps.

Dear @dylanojh Folliculitis is due to inflammation of hair follicles.  It can be due to bacteria, virus or even fungus. Folliculitis is not a sign of allergy but it indicates poor skin health.

You might wish to refer to my previous article on maskne on some tips of skin self care and treatments available for acne.

Dear @catarina-mayer If you are feeling extremely stressed your sleep might be disrupted. You might wish to do some breathing exercises or engage in relaxation therapy to reduce your stress. If you feel that you are feeling extremely anxious, mood constantly low and sleep remains poor, you might wish to consult a doctor.

Hi @andrewlim_11,
Do you strain when you pass motion and urinate? The lower abdominal pain may result from an excessive rise in intra-abdominal pressure from straining. Occasionally it can also be because of abdominal wall conditions like hernia, urinary tract conditions like prostate enlargement or intestinal conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome. If your symptoms are recurrent and are bothering you, it's best to get it checked by a medical doctor.

Yes Certainly @AldrinYu69 . You can do exercises like skipping, yoga, sit ups, crunches , planks or even jogging on threadmill. With regular moderate exercises of at least 30 minutes each time for 5 times a week ( even at home) will definitely help you in your weight loss. Hope this helps!

Dear @Anicka0730  You may develop pain due to constipation, known as constipation colic. The pain is due to the intestine contracting to try pass out the stools. Patients commonly feel pain due to constipation on the left of their abdomen where stools are more formed and hard.  Pain can be felt over left lower corner, left side of abdomen, upper abdomen or over the whole abdomen in very severe constipation. Do not hesitate to consult your family doctor to rule out other conditions that can present as abdominal pain.

Dear Goldenwhiskey, the Pneumococcal and Influenza vaccine is strongly recommended for certain groups of patients (e.g. age >65, with other medical conditions such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes, ischemic heart dieseases, etc). For a young healthy 54 year old, the vaccines are still recommended, as you can still be susceptible to the infections. Do not worry, as allergy to Chloroquin is not an contraindication towards the 2 above-mentioned vaccines.

Dear @b_itchy Yes you will be issued a 5 days MC which is equivalent to an SHN if you present with upper respiratory tract infection.

If the clinic is a Public Health Preparedness Clinic, Swab and Send Home Clinic, patients aged 13 years and above will be offered to do a COVID-19 swab at your first presentation. Alternatively, you might be refered to another location to undergo the COVID-19 swab test.

If you agree to undergo the swab, MC/ SHN duration will be minimum 3 days to allow time for the COVID-19 results to be out. Once the results are out, you can check the results on healthhub and you will receive an SMS from MOH.

You will need to stay at home for the whole duration of 5 days MC or till you receive the COVID-19 swab result that says you are COVID-19 negative before you can leave your house. Hope this helps.
